In what has become a family tradition, the President of the 8th Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has distributed various food items to the aged women and the Baba Saraki Alasalatu group in Ilorin to ease their burden during the holy month of Ramadan.
The gesture, according to the Coordinator of the Saraki Ile-Arugbo Welfare Home, Hajia Afusat Abubakar, is to lessen the economic hardship on the people, especially the aged women with cash and food items in the community.
This practice is an aged long one that started in the days of Baba Oloye, the former Senate Leader, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, to carter for the welfare of the less privileged women, needy and widows.
The wife of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Barr Toyin Saraki who also visited some of the points of distribution, rejoiced with the aged women and appreciated their undiluted love for the Saraki’s family.
The distribution exercise which is targeted to ease the burden of the people during Ramadan was carried out at different locations closer to the beneficiaries.
Some of the distribution points in Ilorin include, Ilofa Road, Baba Saraki’s GRA residence, Adeta Film House, Abata Baba Oyo, Okelele, Kotu-Koro, and also Niger area to cover the Christian community too.
Hajia Afusat retritrated that the practice which is an aged long event was well received by the beneficiaries with smiles on their faces.
The beneficiaries who were full of gratitude to their benefactor, the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin Emirate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, prayed to God Almighty to accept the act, and reward him abundantly for his kind gesture.
