Israel Adesanya nicknamed Stylebender knocked out Alex Pereira cold in the main event of UFC 287 to recover the middleweight belt.
Pereira defeated Adesanya twice in kickboxing before following the Nigerian-New Zealander into mixed martial arts, where he defeated Adesanya with a TKO in November.
The opening round was a little unsteady, with leg kicks being traded more than anything else.
Things picked up well in the second round.
Poatan was much more ready to let his hands go, and he pounced on Izzy’s lead leg right away.
Pereira pulled Adesanya against the fence and began unleashing heavy strikes, but Adesanya had a plan.
With his back to the cage in round two, Adesanya, 33, delivered two devastating blows.
“But here’s the thing: if you don’t pursue something in your life, you’ll never feel this degree of satisfaction.” If you remain down after they knock you down, you will never get back up.
“Strengthen your intellect and experience this degree of enjoyment.” I’m grateful for the opportunity to experience this again and again.”
