Mr. Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, the Press Officer (Local Matters) to former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has chided the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State for adopting a negative campaign strategy in which it does not tell people what the state government has done to alleviate their suffering or make their lives better in the last 45 months but rather repeatedly attacks the records of the preceding administration.
While calling such a strategy a “no-brainer adopted by a dumb party”, Abdulqadir stated that because of the quality of the persons paraded by the APC in the state, their arguments always either stood logic in the head or contradicted each other.
While commenting on a statement signed by Tajudeen Aro Folami, the Publicity Secretary of the APC who was reacting to the interview granted to Sobi FM by Dr. Saraki, Abdulqadir noted that as typical of APC leaders, the spokesman avoided reeling out the achievements of the present administration in the last 45 months that it has been in office.
“He could not even mention specific projects, programmes, and policies which the administration has initiated to make Kwara State greater than they met it. While he sought to demonize the Saraki administration, he could not avoid the temptation of claiming that they are building on the same past administration’s achievements. How do you build on what you claim does not exist? Confusion…that is the proper name for this APC.
“On one hand, he mentioned KWASU, an institution which all responsible Kwarans are proud of, and the construction of Ilesha Baruba -Gwanara Road which the Saraki administration initiated as two of the projects they are improving on. On another, he said the Saraki government did nothing. Contradiction…another name of the Kwara APC.
“A government peopled by those who have no idea of what they wanted to do in government and who have also failed to attract the best hands from the state scattered across the world to help them. They are confused. They just run the government on impulse. That is why they can be constructing a flyover with manual labourers and half-baked professionals. And this is after competent and certified professionals have distanced themselves from the government and its haphazard measures.
“The APC and its administration in Kwara State should know that our people are wise. They have seen through the lies that propelled the administration into power in 2019. Now, they want concrete explanations based on facts. They want to know what the government has done with the hundreds of billions of naira that it has received as federal allocations, development funds, aids, grants, and loans. They want to know why other administrations inaugurated in 2019 like that of Abdulrazaq have been commissioning projects and initiating beneficial policies and programmes in their respective states and nothing like that is happening in Kwara State.
“Our people will not reward failure. They will not accept lies again. The day of reckoning is here. That is why the reigning slogan across all homes in Kwara State is “O Su Wa”. It means they are tired of this APC government of deceit where “ All Promises (are) Cancelled”, Abdulqadir stated.
