Sunday, 4th December, 2022, the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos was agog as the leadership of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Lagos State chapter, bestowed on the Kwara Deputy Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Hon. Gbenga Peter Makanjuola, an award of excellence.
The award, according to the organisers of the event, is in recognition of Makanjuola’s leadership qualities and contribution to humanity and Igbomina land in general.
Expressing gratitude on the recognition, the politician said the award is the third series of honour done on him by the Omo Ibile Igbomina leadership, as he had received an award of leadership excellence from the national body of the association and two similar awards from the lagos chapter.
He, however, received the honour with delight, noting that it is a challenge to do more as to complement the rare privilege, while he thanked the union for finding him worthy.
The award was presented on behalf of Omo Ibile Igbomina by the Mother of day, Chief Mrs Kemi Fajana; and in attendance were the National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Elder Yusuf; Kabiyesi Olusin of Isanlu Isin; the representatives of Olupo of Ajase-Ipo; and the representative of Olomu of Omu-Aran who is also the Eesa of Omu-Aran, Chief Kunke Oyinloye; and dignitaries from all walks of life were also present.
