The Kwara State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev Bishop Sunday Timothy Adewole, has reiterated the stand of the christian community not to accept the “Muslim Muslim Ticket” for the presidential position.
He made the statement when he received the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki who came to commiserate with him for the passing of his mother-in-law, Madam Caroline Aduke Akanbi and also to congratulate him on his new appointment as the CAN Chairman, Kwara State.
Bishop Adewole also applauded former President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki for his role in 2015 when he stood against the plot to foist a Muslim Muslim presidential ticket on the country.
The new CAN Chairman appreciated the former Senate President for the visit. He also lauded the Saraki family for their immeasurable role in the development of Kwara and Nigeria.
The CAN Chairman sought his hand of fellowship in maintaining peaceful and harmonious relationship of every tribe and religion in Nigeria.
On the state of the nation, Bishop Adewole reiterated the stand of the christian community not to accept the “Muslim Muslim Ticket” for the presidential position.
The cleric, however, applauded former President of the Senate, Saraki for the crucial role he played in 2015, when he stood against the Muslim Muslim ticket.
This, he said, was because of Saraki’s understanding of the multi-cultural and multi-religious nature of Nigeria, as well as his desire to ensure justice, equity and unity.
Bishop Adewole also recalled the unparalleled contribution of late elder statesman, Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, to the development of Kwara and Nigeria at large.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of Baba Oloye whose 10 years remembrance prayer holds on 14th November, 2022.
On his new position as CAN Chairman, the former Kwara State Governor, and National chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki expressed total confidence in his ability to use the office for religious and human advancement.
He also noted that religious leaders have a key role to play in counselling leaders and advising them on the right decisions to take.
The visit which was to comiserate with the family was also to congratulate him on his appointment as the new Kwara State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.
Saraki charged the family to take solace in the fact that “mama lived a fulfilled life and witnessed the glory of her offsprings.
He prayed God to grant her peaceful rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
