The Forum of former lawmakers of the Kwara State House of Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has thrown its weight behind the presidential bid of Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

The forum also urged other geo political zones in the country to support the North Central to produce the next president.

Addressing a press conference in Ilorin on Tuesday, the group said the former Senate President has demonstrated capacity and brilliance backed with the necessary legislative and executive experiences to deliver the country from its present state of hopelessness.
Spokesperson of the group who was also a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. (Dr) Abraham Ashaolu said Saraki’s background as an accomplished private sector player with global connections put him above others in the race.
According to them “It is time to put our best leg forward and take our rightful place in the political firmament of our nation.

“The North Central zone, which by providence is multi-cultural, has been the balancing factor in national affairs for peace and security.

“We are absolutely sure that Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki is the most appropriate person that Nigeria needs at this moment of national despair in order to galvanize the growth and development of our country.

“He is a specimen of a detribalized Nigerian that is competent, conscientious and a leader that cannot be distracted in the onerous task of retuning Nigeria to its rightful place.
“His background as an accomplished private sector player especially in the financial world and high level connections with international business and political leaders shall be unveiled to accelerate economic growth and development to turnaround the economy that is begging for regeneration and revitalization”, he added.

On the continued suspension of the lone PDP opposition lawmaker, Hon Raheem Jimoh Agboola by the APC dominated State Assembly; the forum lampooned the members for “turning themselves to stooges of the Governor.

“It is quite unfortunate and a dent on our democracy to follow the shameful trend in the Kwara State House of Assembly where the only opposition figure has been subjected to ridicule under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“The 9th members of the Kwara State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Yakubu Soliu Danladi need to cover their faces in shame for being the Governor’s stooge”, it added.
