Saraki Grassroot Ladies storm Osi in continuation of voters education among rural women

…Canvasses for more women inclusion in politics

The Saraki Grassroot Ladies today visited Idoji compound in Òsì Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State to sensitise residents of the area on the need to participate in the ongoing continuous voters registration.

Leader of the group, Alabi Aisha Abd’Lateef (ALIVE) said the group embarked on the visit as part of its effort at encouraging women participation in politics and inclusion of women in leadership and governance structures in Kwara state and Nigeria as a whole.

According to her “we are aiming to change the narrative towards ensuring a more enabling environment and inclusion of women in decision-making processes across all spheres in the country.

“The perception of women in politics and governance in general of being good only to dance during rallies and collect wrappers and food items must change and the Saraki Grassroot Ladies will ensure the aim is achieved,” she said.

She commended the women for their overwhelming support and the way they received them, saying it’s a good sign that women are now more alive to their responsibilities.

” We are happy that more women are ready to join the campaign on voters registration and PDP membership e-registration awareness”, she said.

In her response Mrs Ayodele Tope, while speaking on behalf of the women said they are ready to work with the PDP and its leadership under former senate president Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki to reclaim Kwara State from the ineptitude of the ruling APC who have failed on all their campaign promises to Kwara and her people.
