Kwara PDP decries gruesome killing of Onijala by kidnappers, condoles family

…asks Gov abdulrazaq to wake up to his responsibility of securing lives

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State has condemned the gruesome killing of Mr Adegboyega Onijala in Isin local government area of the State by some daredevil kidnappers.

In a statement released on Thursday by its State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, the party said it was shocked to learn of the brutal killing of Onijala whose news of abduction went viral on social media a few days ago.

While commiserating with the family of the deceased and the people of Isin local government area, the Kwara PDP charged security operatives to investigate the sad incident and bring the perpetrators to book.

It noted that “the spate of kidnap for ransom and ritual killings in Kwara State in recent time, is worrisome and quite unfortunate. Criminal elements including kidnappers and ritual killers now operate freely in different parts of the State, destroying lives and throwing families into a state of sadness. This ugly trend is absolutely unacceptable and portrays our dear State in a bad light.

“What is more worrisome is that the State government that is saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property appears to be helpless in securing the lives of Kwarans who live in perpetual fear of attacks and kidnappings.

“Despite reported cases of kidnappings and killings in different parts of the State, the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has not demonstrated any commitment to deal with the situation. This shows how insensitive the Governor is to the plight of the people.

“Our party calls on the Governor, who is the Chief Security Officer of the State, to wake up to his responsibilities and save our people from this security nightmare. Kwarans cannot continue to live in fear in their own land. Things must change for the better.”

Tunde Ashaolu,
State Publicity Secretary,
Kwara PDP
