In less than twenty four hours after scores of members of Kwara state All Progressives Congress (APC), including a chieftaincy title holder in Okuta town and a former APC ward secretary from Baruteen local government area, dumped the ruling party and switched their allegiance to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state, the party has, again, lost over three hundred (300) members in Kaiama local government area of the state.
The defectors who were led by Mall AbdulKareem Musa Vanda, to the meeting centre of Kwara PDP Reconciliation and Engagement Committee in their local government.
The group cited the cluelessness, insincerity and irresponsible attitudes of the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led APC government in the state as reasons which informed their defection.
Mallam Musa Vanda, also specifically disclosed that about a hundred of his fellow APC defectors were from Ward-ll, same ward with Sen. Sidiq Umar, the current senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District at the National Assembly. He further added that the senator’s irresponsiveness to the welfare of his own people and the senatorial district by extension, abated the huge loss suffered by APC in the local government.
He went further pledged, on behalf of his colleagues, unalloyed support to the leadership of the party’s national leader, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who he described as an exemplary leader who has realized his mistakes and ready to correct them.
Welcoming the defectors wholeheartedly, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, was pleased with both the decampees and returnees to the PDP family. He assured them of the readiness of the party to work with everyone to rescue the future of the state from the cluelessness of the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led APC government. He assured them that the party will deliver more dividends of democracy on the path of equity, justice and fairness.
