Pakata Patriots charges KWSG on Hijab

An Ilorin-based Non-Governmental Organisation, “Pakata Patriots”, Ilorin, has joined the growing list of organisations and individuals appealing to the Kwara State Government not to leave any stone unturned at ensuring that the judgement of the Court of Appeal on the wearing of Hijab in public schools across the State is strictly implemented.

The Association,in a statement jointly signed by its President and Secretary, Mallam Shehu Aliyu and Mallam Abubakar Imam, respectively, said that,as an organisation peopled by well-meaning patriots, it was compelled by the “unfolding and unfortunate grandstanding of a few recalcitrant and over-pampered residents of Ilorin” on the issue to offer its intervention on the “State of the State”,saying that the people of Pakata and its neighbourhood are not only disturbed but also “very angry with the show of shame going on in some schools in our community as being perpetuated by a few unpatriotic elements”.

The Association insisted that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has done nothing unusual or wrong in the implementation of the judgement of the Court of Appeal, which allows interested female students to wear Hijab in schools.

The Association added that it was also disturbed by the alleged lethargy of the security agencies and questionable loyalty of the management and staff of the affected schools who deliberately elected to ignore the implementation of the government innocuous directives.

“What is even more surprising and unthinkable is the role of people who are not indigenous of Kwara State in the fueling of trouble in our community with a view to changing our appellation from the “State of Harmony” to something else.

The statement added that the feeble, unintelligent and unlawful opposition being poised by “hoodlums hiding under the canopy of religiousity was most unfortunate and untenable in a civilised clime” as it urged all those concerned not only to desist from illegality but also cooperate fully with the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq instead of constituting menace.
