Kwara PDP Stalwart Blasts APC Chieftain Over Comments On Saraki, Ahmed

A stalwart of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP in Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulkadri Oba Ajara, has berated a chieftain of the APC in the State, Barrister Kunle Sulyman, over his comparison of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s performance in one year with the performance of former governors Bukola Saraki and Abdulfatah Ahmed.

Oba Ajara said Sulyman’s comment was ill-informed and sycophantic, noting that the facts and realities on the ground clearly contradict his spurious assertion.

He added that it was foolhardy and preposterous for anyone to claim that Governor Abdulrazaq’s performance in one year has surpassed the performance of previous administrations. He, therefore, urged the governor to be wary of and not be deceived by praise singers and bootlickers like Sulyman who are only after their own selfish interest.

“Barrister Kunle Sulyman’s commentary is ill-formed, sycophantic and unfortunate to say the least. It is foolhardy and preposterous for anyone to make such unfair and dishonorable claim. As an elder, Sulyman ought to know better but what he will eat won’t stop him from kowtowing the governor. His commentary has further shown that he is indeed a bootlicker and the governor must be wary of people like him, who are after their own selfish interest,” he said.

He said no amount of lies and propaganda can wash away Saraki’s record of achievements and accomplishments as governor of Kwara State and that of Maigida. Oba Ajara maintained that it is clear to all and sundry that Saraki is the architect of modern Kwara, going by the various strategic developmental projects carried out by his administration, many of which, he said are visible till today.

The Kwara PDP chieftain emphasized that several of the projects and programmes executed by Saraki and Ahmed continue to have positive impacts on the development of the State, adding that there was no sector their administrations did not touch.

He said: “The previous PDP administrations would never flaunt construction of culverts, boreholes, fixing of potholes and painting of existing schools as achievements but critical projects and programmes that benefit current and future generations of Kwarans.

“In fact, Maigida within his first 100 days in office, commissioned new roads, renovated and equipped hospitals, schools, and launched youth empowerment programme, KWABES, under which about 2000 youths were engaged and several of them later absorbed into the State civil service.”

Oba Ajara who described Kunle Sulyman as a confused and ignorant politician, said “there was absolutely no basis to compare Abdulrazaq’s one-year administration with those of Saraki and Maigida. Facts and realities on ground clearly contradict his assertion.”

The Kwara PDP stalwart further said rather than attempting a comparison between the present government and previous administrations, Barrister Sulyman should be more concerned about how Governor Abdulrazaq and his party would deliver their campaign promises to Kwarans.

He said so far, the APC-led government was yet to fulfil several of its campaign promises to Kwarans.

“An appraisal of the Abdulrazaq’s performance in the last one year revealed that the governor has not met the expectations of the people, and to say that Kwarans are disappointed is to put it mildly. This should be the concern of an elder like Barrister Kunle Sulyman and not bootlicking,” he added.
