1441AH Eid-el-Fitri: Senator Rafiu felicitates with Muslims

A former lawmaker, who represented Kwara South senatorial district at the 8th Senate, Dr Rafiu Ibrahim, has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe on the occasion of the 1441 AH Eid-el-fitri festival, following the completion of the Ramadan fasting.

Senator Rafiu in a statement he personally signed, called on Muslim faithful to always reflect on and uphold the lessons of Ramadan even as the fasting has ended.

“I congratulate all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world on the joyous occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration and pray Almighty Allah grant us long life to witness many more of this festival on earth.”

“Though the fasting has ended, we as Muslims must always reflect on and uphold the spirit of obedience, patience, perseverance, love and compassion, which are some of the lessons the holy month of Ramadan came to instill in us,” he said.

He also encouraged Muslims and Nigerians to take advantage of this important occasion of Eid-el-fitri to offer special prayers for the unity, development, purity and safety of the country, especially amidst the health crisis (Coronavirus) currently ravaging the whole world.

While praying for the quick recovery of infected persons and for Nigeria and indeed the world to overcome this menace soon, Senator Rafiu emphasised the need for Nigerians to support efforts put in place by government at all levels to combat the pandemic.

He particularly charged them to continue observe personal hygiene and maintain all precautionary measures prescribed by relevant authorities to contain the spread of Covid-19.

In the spirit of the celebration and in view of the current economic realities occasioned by the Coronavirus, the ex-lawmaker urged Nigerians, particularly well-meaning individuals to show compassion and extend support to the needy and the poor of the society to lessen the hardship they are facing.
