Yesterday, the former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, through his official twitter handle, pledged to support the good people of Kwara State in the sixteen (16) local government of the state with relief items, as a cushioning effect during the nationwide lockdown occasioned the pandemic corona virus (COVID – 19), through his humanitarian organization, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Foundation.
Today, the pledge has become a reality as the foundation hit the state capital with house-to-house distribution of food items and protective materials including masks, hand gloves and Vitamin C immune system boosting, amidst total conforming with the government prescribed social distancing order. The distribution which is being anchored by the Foundation’s Director of Community Impacts, Mallam Olayinka Otukoko, targets hundreds of thousand of Kwarans as beneficiaries, irrespective of the political parties in which they belong.
According to Otukoko, “this gesture is neither political nor tribal as the founder, Sen. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has the wellbeing of the entire people of Kwara State at heart and does not discriminate weather someone is a member of APC or PDP or APGA or what have you, as a medical doctor, he wants every Kwaran to be safe, fed and healthy, hence the the succours being anchored by this high profiled team including medical doctors, nurses and other health practitioners and will be benefited by the three Senatorial Districts of the state”.
The President of a leading youth community development association in Ilorin, Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA), Alhaji Abdullahi Babatunde Salaudeen, who received the relief items on behalf of hundreds of local community development associations under him, appreciated the former Senate President and the Waziri of Ilorin Emirate, for the particular gesture and past humanitarian services for Ilorin community and Kwara at large.
