ICPC summons Kwara Gov’s wife, Olufolake, 8 others over corruption allegations

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, has summoned nine board members of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) including the wife of the Kwara State Governor, Olufolake Abdulrazaq, over corruption allegations.

The anti-graft agency said it invited the nine officials as part of an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations at the NIPC last year December.

In a letter sent to each of the invited officials, the ICPC said their invitation was in connection to an “alleged violation of the provisions” of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.

Aside the wife of the Kwara State Governor, other officials of the agency summoned by the ICPC, according to Premium Times online newspaper, include:

i. Chairman of the Governing Board of the NIPC, Hon. Babangida Nguroje.

ii. Mrs Grace Gekpe

iii. Barrister Ayanlowo Obisesan

iv. Mr Eloho Samuel

v. Dr Uwatt Uwatt Bassey

vi. Sunday Akpan Edet

vii. Ambassador Mustapha Suileman

viii. Adebayo Odejimi

They were expected to come along to the ICPC office in Abuja with any one of the following; a lawyer, a justice of peace, a staff of the legal aid council or any individual of your choice.

As of the time of filing this report, it wasn’t clear if the invited alleged criminals have appeared before the ICPC for questioning. It was gathered that the invitation by the anti-graft agency was the reason behind the First Lady’s absence from Kwara during Christmas and New Year festival and failure to welcome the ‘First Baby of Year’, which was a conventional practice since the creation of the state. Reliably, the Star Commissioner, Hajia Aishat Ahman Pategi, was alive to welcome and celebrate the first baby of year 2020 in the capacity of the First Lady. It was, however, heard that the alleged wife of the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Olufolake has been out of Kwara for several weeks.
