The Kwara Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Hajia Aisha Ahman-Patigi, has urged council workers in Kwara to be more pro-active in the discharge of their duties.
The commissioner gave this charge on Monday when she paid an unscheduled visit to the headquarters of the llorin East Local Government Area in Oke-Oyi.
Ahman-Patigi, who was in company with some top government functionaries in the ministry, called on the council workers to redouble their efforts so as to resuscitate the lost glory in local government administration.
She reaffirmed the determination of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq to make local governments to be responsible and responsive to the infrastructure needs of the grassroots.
The commissioner implored the council workers to be responsive in the discharge of their duties to complement the state government’s efforts in the turning around of the state rural communities.
She frowned at the untidy environment of the llorin East Local Government headquarters and tasked the Director of Personnel Management of the council, Mr Oyebanji Gabriel to ensure a tidy environment of the premises at all times.
In his remarks, the director thanked the commissioner for her visit to the local government headquarters and assured her of the maximum cooperation of staff and management of the council.
