Sherrif Kassimu, Chairman of the Kaduna State Football Association, on Tuesday said the 2019 Aiteo Cup Finals was “a good opportunity for football fans in the state to show their stuff’’.
Kassimu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that football fans in the state needed to come out to support the competition by trooping out to watch the final matches.
“All arrangements for us to have a hitch-free finals have been concluded, including the provision of well-trained ball boys, adequate security and a good playing pitch as directed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
“Therefore, I urge spectators to come out en masse and support the teams playing in the finals, because this is a good opportunity for Kaduna State to host.
“I know we have good spectators in the entire north and they are all good law-abiding citizens.
“We have four clubs coming to Kaduna for the finals —- two male and two female clubs —- and I believe they will be cheered positively,’’ he said.
The Kaduna State FA chairman said the state last hosted matches of such magnitude more than 10 years ago and he was hopeful the finals would be successful.
NAN reports that the 2019 Aiteo Cup final matches, which were earlier scheduled for Wednesday, have now been rescheduled for Sunday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
