Ogbako Ndi Anambra donate relief materials to Flood victims

The Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim has promised judicious distribution of relief material received by the state Government from individuals and organizations.

The Deputy Governor pledged when he received Ogbako Ndianambra in Warri, who brought items worth millions of naira.

These include assorted bags of rice, cartons of Indomie noodles and a cash donation of N300,000 in support of the flood victims in the state.

The Deputy Governor while commending them for their humanitarian gesture described them as good ambassadors of Anambra State.

He described this year’s flood disaster as the worst in the recent past, saying that it devastated the state’s infrastructures including roads, schools, hospitals and houses.

The Deputy Governor said as a result of the devastating impact the flood has had on the state, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo inaugurated a Flood Disaster Committee made up of relevant ministries under his chairmanship.

According to him, the committee has been charged with helping to ameliorate the impact on Ndi Anambra.

He lamented that this year’s flooding overwhelmed the state and federal governments.

‘’This is why we sought the interventions of the international community through UNDP and other donor agencies,’’ the Governor explained.

The state Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism Mr Don Onyenji while introducing the Anambra State indigenes in Warri Delta State said they were touched by the level of devastation and losses experienced by some Ndi Anambra.

The Commissioner lamented the hunger, starvation and displacement suffered by the victims and commended the Governor for his efforts toward assisting them.

He thanked Ogbako Ndianambra in Warri for their kind gesture and pray to God to reward them abundantly.

Ogbako Ndianambra is made up of people from various Communities in Anambra State resident in Warri.
